Bandai Namco have announced that the Action-RPG Elden Ring has now surpassed 20 million units sold in the first year of its release.
Elden Ring Sells a Staggering 20 Million Units in One Year of Launch
A year after Elden Ring’s release, the title has now reached 20 million units sold according to publisher Bandai Namco. The Action-RPG which finally unleashed in February 2022 has had an amazing year. Previously FromSoftware had shared the game reached the 16.6 million mark last June, gaining another 4 million in just over half a year later.
Elden Ring has kept raking in the accolades gaining Game of the Year 2022 at The Game Awards last year. It also snapped up awards for Best Art Direction, Best Game Direction and Best RPG. But it didn’t stop there, the title also gained more GOTY awards than The Last of Us 2, the previous holder of most GOTYs. Elden Ring had 332 outlets crowning it the new GOTY king.
Since the launch, FromSoftware has released a PvP update which added the challenging Colosseum. This mode has up to six players duke it out in duels, free-for-alls, and team fights. You can even bring in summons using Spirit Ashes.

Players of course can’t wait for what could be next for the game, but the developer has stayed very quiet in this regard. Hidetaka Miyazaki did tease that there are “more things” he wants to do with the game but didn’t really let on what exactly that meant. The developer is however now focusing on Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon which was also revealed at TGA set to release this year. But you can expect more from the IP in different forms such as a board game which has already smashed its Kickstarter goal tenfold with over 16.6 million units worldwide. Yasuo Miyakawa has expressed interest in “expanding beyond the realm of games” for the new IP.
1 Year Anniversary
A one-year anniversary celebration will be taking place in Stockholm on February 25th, which has some excited to hear some news on the game. So far they have announced cosplay, contests, prize giveaways and PVP.
