Elden Ring Gargoyle’s Blackblade Build Guide – Equipment
The general concept of the Blasphemous Herald build involves using the Blasphemous Blade, as in the Blasphemous Beastmaster build, and combining it with the jump attacks and greatswords of the Hellfire Herald build for flexibility. You can use the Taker’s Flame ability of the Blasphemous Blade for substantial ranged damage or get up close with jump attacks using dual greatswords.
What I really like about this Gargoyle’s Blackblade build is its ability to deal both physical and fire damage or physical and holy damage, depending on the enemy. You can swap your ashes of war and weapons to suit the situation. The Blasphemous Blade, the primary weapon, deals physical and fire damage with Taker’s Flame, which does incredible ranged damage and heals you. This build offers durability with tons of armor and protection, allowing you to shrug off damage, heal over time with incantations, and regain health with Taker’s Flame. This build is exceptionally strong, making it possible to first-try many bosses and requiring minimal expertise to use effectively.
The addition of the Gargoyle’s Black Blade provides another greatsword option with a weapon ability similar to the Blasphemous Blade. Corpse Waxcutter has a shorter range but adds a Black Flame status effect, sapping enemy health and dealing substantial holy damage. This allows for easy swapping between the Blasphemous Blade and the Gargoyle’s Black Blade depending on whether you need fire or holy damage. The offhand weapon, either the Gargoyle’s Greatsword or the Iron Greatsword, can be customized with different Ashes of War to match your damage type needs.
The Gargoyle’s Greatsword is ideal for its B scaling in faith, but the Iron Greatsword can also be a solid choice. The two Ashes of War I recommend for the Gargoyle’s Greatsword are Flaming Strike for extra fire damage and Sacred Order for extra holy damage. Both allow you to buff your weapon and then switch back to dual wielding for enhanced jump attacks.
For incantations, the Clawmark Seal is useful as it scales with strength and faith, complementing the build’s split attribute focus. Although the incantations are not the primary focus due to lower scaling, they provide useful utility in various situations.
The split attributes in this Elden Ring Gargoyle’s Blackblade build, with a balanced investment in strength and faith, ensure optimal damage for both the Blasphemous Blade and Gargoyle’s Black Blade, which drop off significantly after 50 points in either stat. This balance ensures you maintain high melee damage for jump attacks, while still benefiting from faith-based enhancements. The build’s primary weapons are optimized for this dual-purpose approach, making it exceptionally versatile and powerful.
For the armor in this Blasphemous Herald build, we’re using the Raptor’s Black Feathers for the chest piece to boost jump attack damage, similar to the Hellfire Herald build. Maximizing jump attack damage is crucial since it’s a frequent tactic in this build. For the other armor slots, prioritize maximum protection while maintaining a medium roll. Combine high-defense armor with Golden Vow and the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman for substantial physical damage reduction. Adding Black Flame‘s Protection further boosts your damage mitigation, allowing you to withstand significant hits.
Because Taker’s Flame restores health and you can use healing-over-time incantations, you should generally stay at or near full health. This setup ensures you remain durable and resilient, making it easier to survive tough encounters while dealing considerable damage.
Elden Ring Gargoyle’s Blackblade Build Guide – Talismans
In terms of talismans, I have the Great-Jar’s Arsenal, the Claw Talisman, Shard of Alexander, and the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman.
the Great-Jar’s Arsenal is essential, allowing for the utilization of heavy armor without sacrificing mobility. This saves valuable points in endurance, which can then be allocated to offensive capabilities. While Radagon’s Soreseal could serve a similar purpose, the Arsenal is typically preferred due to its efficiency.
The Claw Talisman is another crucial component, enhancing jump attack damage, which is frequently employed in this build. Maximizing jump attack effectiveness is key, making this talisman indispensable for maximizing damage output.
The Shard of Alexander is valuable for augmenting the damage of Taker’s Flame and Corpse Wax Cutter, further bolstering their already potent offensive capabilities. This enhancement significantly increases their effectiveness in combat situations.
Lastly, the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman reinforces physical damage mitigation, complementing the build’s sturdy defensive setup. When combined with the formidable armor and Golden Vow, this talisman ensures exceptional tankiness in combat, making the build highly resilient. Adding Black Flame’s Protection further enhances survivability, making the build exceptionally durable in battle.

Elden Ring Gargoyle’s Blackblade Build Guide – Spells
Some final tips before we wrap up, there are several additional incantations that complement its strengths.
Golden Vow enhances both damage and protection, serving as a pre-fight ritual to fortify durability and offensive capabilities.
Flame, Grant Me Strength boosts fire and physical damage, ideally used before executing jump attacks or casting Taker’s Flame.
Black Flame’s Protection significantly increases physical damage reduction, prioritizing overall defense while sacrificing holy damage resistance.
Blessing’s Boon provides a gradual healing effect, valuable for sustaining health during prolonged engagements or against chip damage.
Black Flame offers a ranged finishing option for weakened enemies or situations where close proximity is risky. Lightning Spear is effective against foes vulnerable to lightning damage, granting a strategic advantage in specific encounters.
Flame, Cleanse Me removes poison or scarlet rot afflictions, particularly useful in late-game scenarios with prevalent hazards.
Beastial Vitality adds an extra heal over time effect, providing further options for maintaining health alongside Blessing’s Boon or as an alternative. These incantations contribute to the versatility and survivability of the Blasphemous Herald build, making it a formidable choice in Elden Ring.
